Beachy Keen!

In the morning we got up, checked out, ate some breakfast, then drove back into Los Angeles. Our plane didn't leave until afternoon, so we had two hours to kill. What can a young, energetic family of four do in Los Angeles in two hours? Well, my first thought was, of course, the beach. So we headed for one of my favorites, Santa Monica. The pier you see in the background is just so cool. Also, Santa Monica has playgrounds and boardwalks on the beach. Wicked sweet. We took a few shots (like this one that makes it look like Jason is wearing a faux hawk. Yay for coastal winds!) played in the waves, dug in the sand, and the girls found some sea shells. After a while it started getting pretty cold so we decided to drive to Hollywood by way of Beverly Hills. I convinced Jason to take Rodeo Drive so I could get some more pictures and freak out over the brand names on the shops, even though they're the same ones you can find at your local Nordstroms. (but it's so much cooler and shinier!) Then we drove into Hollywood and saw the sign on the hills and remarked yet again at how positively disgusting Hollywood Blvd. is except for the block and a half by Graumann's. Seriously, it's like walking down Troost here in KC. Blecch. After our whirlwind tour of famous shiny things, it was time to go back to the airport. We turned in our rental car, checked in, got annoyed at security, paid too much for airport food, and finally arrived back home in Kansas City.
